Lego Camper, 1961
I love this. Spirit of adventure, and style all the way. Sweeping skies, happy bunch of adults, beautiful clothes, (lovely hat!), binoculars. A birdwatching trip perhaps?
No children to be seen. If this is a box cover from 1961 and not a retro reissue, I'm curious. Back in 1961 Lego must surely have been marketed as a children's plaything not an item for adult collectors. So why no children? I wondered if children are missing because the picture is made up of a Lego image superimposed on a picture from VW promotional literature?
Seems not. Look at these pictures from the 1961 brochures, full of families. They come from

The one at the bottom is from 1951
